The Palace Theatre Shining Bright

I had posted the above pic a few months ago over at Blugstuff and had promised to show a pic of the sign lit up at night. As promised, here is a pic of the Palace Theatre sign all lit up in it's former glory.

I just love the old theatre signs. The movies just don't seem the same in todays big mega-plex's.

I like both pics - but it really looks pretty in the daylight. I love old theaters. I agree - the big commercial theaters of today are just not special. There is an old tiny one-room theater in the small town next to mine, which used to host foreign films, oddball films and little known ones. They sold home-made brownies at intermission (remember intermission?) and lemonade. It went out of business last year much to my great disappointment, and now just stands empty and deserted.

i still can remember watching love me tender at the texan theater in mesquite texas when i was a kid and is still one of my favorite memories..
going there on sat morning and spending all day long watching the lone ranger, tarzan, and boma of the jungle seriels...finally falling asleep in the cushy red velvet seats and my daddy coming to pick me up and carry me home..

just checking in to say hello. Hope all is well.

When I was a kid, we'd go to a theatre called The Palace to see the Nutcracker ballet each December. So cool.

We had a '' Palace '' theater in the town where I grew up. That was the place to be on Sat. night.
It`s been years since I had a Big Hunk candy bar.

Thanks everyone. Sorry for the respite but I haven't had much time to get out and about. But I have a few posts worth of pics. I hope you enjoy them.

Pretty sign. I always try to take pictures of the old stuff that won't be around forever.
